Julie Donati is a Victoria, BC based lawyer, arbitrator and approved roster member of the BC Hear The Child Society.
She has been practicing primarily in family law for over 18 years and has two adult children and one grandchild.
A member in good standing of both the Law Society and the Trial Lawyers Associations of BC, Julie was trained in the area of “Hear the Child” interviews since November 2007. Julie has performed non-evaluative interviews with children and prepared numerous reports for this purpose since 2008.
Beyond her qualifications and years of experience, it’s Julie’s approach with families in conflict that makes her such a popular choice for South Island community members both inside and outside the legal system.
Approachable, friendly and flexible, Julie goes above and beyond for her clients and their children to make sure the process is as comfortable and convenient as possible, given the circumstances.
Her fee structure for Hear The Child interviews is flat rate, which takes the guesswork and intimidation out of working with her. Julie Donati also works with her client’s schedules, offering evening and weekend appointments to avoid unnecessarily pulling children out of school, or taking parents away from their work.
Julie’s conveniently located office is stocked with toys for interviewees and their siblings. Well known for her ability to establish a good rapport with children, using humour, age related interests and in some cases, real live puppies, (yes, Julie also sometimes breeds German Shepherd Dogs) Julie is easily able to establish common ground with children of all ages.
Julie is known for making the Hear the Child interview process simple and straightforward and often have had children report a positive response after the process has been completed.
Julie is also trained as an arbitrator, so her and her team can help facilitate and resolve issues through her wide array of services within the area of family law.
